About Avalanche (AVAX)
Avalanche (AVAX) launched its mainnet in September 2020 after being founded by Cornell University professor Emin Gün Sirer and his students through Ava Labs. The project raised over $42 million in a public token sale that sold out in hours. AVAX is the native token used for staking, gas fees, and transaction settlement on the Avalanche network. Avalanche has a dynamic supply mechanism where transaction fees are burned, partially offsetting validator emissions.
