About Aptos (APT)
Aptos (APT) launched its mainnet in October 2022, founded by Mo Shaikh and Avery Ching, both formerly leaders of the Diem blockchain project at Meta (Facebook). The team raised approximately $400 million in funding before launch from a16z, Multicoin Capital, FTX Ventures (controversially), and others. Aptos uses the Move programming language originally developed for Diem. APT is the native token used for staking, governance, and gas fees, and is widely listed across major exchanges.
Aptos Technology
Aptos uses AptosBFT, a Byzantine Fault Tolerant consensus derived from HotStuff that provides single-block finality in around one second.
